The Cairns Autism Support Group MISSION STATEMENT

We, as a committee, feel that the core strength and purpose of C.A.S.G. is in providing the following:

- Access to information, support networks and events to all members.
- A sympathetic environment where issues can be shared and aired without fear of criticism. 
- A forum for visiting professionals of the group's choice, to aid awareness, education and financial support to   the group.
- A positive meeting point for carers and family members, to exchange information and useful ideas, to   promote friendships, understanding and acceptance.

The foremost purpose of the group is support.  From time to time information will come to the committee for the group which may be confrontational, censorious or offend some members. 
It is not our role to act as censors.  However, we will always aim to provide warning of any material we feel may cause distress or which may contradict the purpose of the group.  It is our belief that the judgmental approach of some material makes the challenges and decisions we face even harder. 

If any members feel that there are issues and directions not being taken by the group which should be, please do not hesitate in coming forward.  An expression of the time which you feel you could contribute to the group for those issues would also be appreciated.

It is our wish that the group continue to provide the hope and support which we have benefited from in some difficult and desperate times, so that all members know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
